Deadwood Trail

Dakota Life - 10/01/2008

Some 300 people drove wagons and rode horseback from Fort Pierre to Deadwood July 2008. The trail they followed was first used by Native Americans, followed by fur trappers, and the Calvary. During the gold rush, the trail was used to haul freight, mining equipment, supplies and people to Deadwood. Here's SDPB's Trailride '08 Web page: http://www.sdpb.org/trailride08
