South Dakota Sea Monsters

Dakota Life - 10/08/2009

Take a step back in time and see what creatures used to swim in the waters of South Dakota. In this segment we'll look at mosasaurs and plesiosaurs, two terrifying and fascinating creatures that swam the Interior Seaway. We'll head to the Museum of Geology in Rapid City, and also see paleontologists working in the field recovering the fossils of these ancient reptiles.

This segment features the artwork of paleo-artist Dan Varner. You can see more of his work by visiting the Oceans of Kansas website.
